Happy New Year + 5 Things I'm Looking Forward to in 2018

I want to thank Dream Elements Calming Pillow Spray for sponsoring this post. As usual, all opinions are my own and I only promote products I love and know my audience will love as well.

HAPPY NEW YEAR FRIENDS! Can you believe that last year, on this exact day, Connor asked me to marry him!? That feels like an eternity ago because SO much has happened since January 1, 2017. We got engaged and married, moved twice, traveled to Oregon, California, and Colorado, and I started my blogging career. That's a whole lot of fun packed into one year! If you want to hear about my year in more detail, you can find an overview of the past year and my goals for the next year over here.

2017 was a year full of wonderful memories, but I'm so thrilled to start this new year! There's something about new years, Mondays, blank planners, and mornings that get me riled up for what's to come. They all give the opportunity for a fresh start and the chance to improve and change old habits!

There are so many exciting things that I'm looking forward to in 2018, so I decided I'd share 5 of them with you! Who knows? Maybe you'll want to hop on board with some of them to make the upcoming year that much more fantastic for you.

ONE STAYCATION + ONE VACATION

When my husband asked me to marry him, he was also basically signing an agreement to travel for the rest of his life. Because honestly, what is life without travel? I'm a huge proponent of traveling, even when it's just a few miles away for a "staycation." It gives your body and mind the chance to step away from the chaos of every day life, embrace something new and different, and even open your mind to new experiences and ways of life.

This year I'm thrilled (although thrilled is an understatement) to announce that my husband and I will be traveling far away! We're not sure where we'll be going yet, but we've got our passports all set to go and the research on destinations has begun! To calm my travel bug, we've also decided to take at least one "staycation" a year. It's amazing how much a stay at the Marriott or an Air Bnb down the street calms my wanderlusting heart (but it doesn't completely calm it...hence the bigger travel plans.)

SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT

IMG_0310.jpg

I give myself a whopping F in the sleeping department for 2017. It may have been due to experiencing sleeping in the same bed with someone regularly for the first time or due to my anxiety. I'm not quite sure what the cause was, but boy, this past year was rough. Along with incessant insomnia, I also had terrible dreams that woke me up and frequent night terrors.

That's why I'm extremely pleased that I found a product that helps me fall asleep and stay asleep throughout the night. I spray a fine mist of Dream Elements Calming Pillow Spray on my pillow each night and the relaxing scent helps me calm down enough to actually fall asleep and somehow keeps me asleep throughout the night! It's infused with natural essential oils, is alcohol free, and obviously won't be habit forming, like many sleep-aid products are.

THE WHOLE30 PROGRAM

I got this amazing book for Christmas and I'm beyond delighted to complete the Whole30 program! I've convinced my husband to do it with me, since we're both at our heaviest right now and could use ALL of the health (physical and emotional) benefits that come from the program. We're only on Day 1, but I'll be writing about our experience with the program frequently as the days go on. So, stay tuned!

THE BACHELOR

I know, I know. You probably feel like you can't trust my word on the Whole30 program or the Dream Elements Calming Pillow Spray if I'm a fan of The Bachelor, right? But, seriously! This show is just too good. I admit that it's cheesy and ridiculous, but it's entertaining and sometimes an entertaining show is just what you need to watch to relieve some stress and forget about your "real life" problems. Sometimes watching 25 girls chase after one guy (that they probably wouldn't even like in real life) is the perfect problem to focus on instead of your own...at least, just for an hour or so a week.

MY BLOGGING BUSINESS

Now that I blog so regularly, I can't imagine not doing it. It encompasses everything I love...writing, helping people, connecting with people, and sharing my passions with the world. I can't wait to take on 2018, add some new exciting additions to the blog, and keep connecting with all of you! 2018 is going to be the best year yet!
